Follow-up Comment #11, patch #7857 (project octave):

Then there might be a hg bug, particularly as it turned out that my repo was
unusable afterwards (hg log leads to 'unknown error' and a bunch of following
messages). This even happens with a fresh repo after trying to import the
patch.
