You also had the wrong link for the wiki (that wiki.pl is from the
very old wiki). Take a look at http://wiki.octave.org/Projects

Of course, the best really is to do things that you really have an
interest on. Not trying to take you away from Octave core but you may
for example be more interested in one of the OctaveForge packages.
