As per http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?35596 looks like this is a lapack 
3.4.0 issue.  On Fedora 17, atlas was build with lapack 3.3.1.  On F18+ 
it was built with 3.4.0.  I'm going to update Fedora 18+ to lapack 3.4.1 
which should hopefully fix it.
