If I were only able to.... The technical details are beyond me - c, c++ and autotools etc is not quite my cup of tea. And this is very MinGW specific. But I remember that Benjamin Lindner sorted it out, got swamped in the details, and reported what he had it in this ML. I'll try to track down his messages (I think 2 years ago or so) and see if I can make something out of it for the gnulib devs.
