Closed OS'es make it really hard to track dependencies, so one just wants to
download a big statically linked bundle that works. There might be extra
storage wasted, but it doesn't really matter.
(On my mac or unix machines I control, I try to build by hand and install into
/usr/local/, for the record. I am forced to use Windows at work, and I don't
even want to waste my time learning how to manage libraries on that OS.)
