I am trying to rebuild octave from scratch and am having a problem with
the gnulib part.
First, I am running debian stable on fairly new hardware, keep it
updated regularly.
I do the following:
hg clone http://www.octave.org/hg/octave
cd octave
./autogen.sh
./configure (stuff)
make
make check
But in the ./autogen step it gets to the
git clone $shallow ... step (in bootstrap)
displays "Cloning into gnulib..."
and stops forever. It never goes further, never does anything useful.
Am I just not understanding?
