The attached changeset crops tickmarks, ticklabels, and grid lines in they lie
outside the axes limits.
If someone will take a quick look and verify this has been done correctly, I'll
push it.

p.s. since there have been a lot of changes to the backend, this changeset may
have some lines offset when applied.
