| You may be missing my point. Even with a NOINSTALL in the octave-forge
| extra/mex folder, octave-forge looks for Matrix.h during the "make" process.

In the sources, liboctave/Matrix.h still exists and is installed as
Matrix.h, so it should still be present.  The problem was caused by
the new file src/matrix.h, which is now gone from the CVS sources.

Ugh.  Stupid case-preserving-but-case-insenstive filesystems!
