Just FYI There is DiMEPACK (http://www10.informatik.uni-erlangen.de/Research/Projects/DiME/software/index.html) that may worth a look. Somebody recommended ut to me a couple years ago, but I never get around using it... The license seems undefined, but at least they do not put any restrictions on its use anywhere on the web page.
