Follow-up Comment #7, bug #54885 (project octave):
This bug still occurs on Octave 5.1.0 on Opensuse Leap 15.0 with Plasma. First
time I launch the open/save file dialog of the editor and change the directory
for the first time, Octave freezes for several minutes. After defreezing, it
is completely usable until the end of the Octave session.
As in comment #2 I have a mounted NFS share (via samba) too.
