Follow-up Comment #4, bug #54464 (project octave):

Maybe your observation regarding the variable editor is really helpful. The VE
also uses the standard shortcut    QKeySequence::Save (hard wired) for saving
a variable into a file. Could make a test by changing the "editor save"
shortcut in the preferences (tab shortcuts) into something different than the
default one?
