Follow-up Comment #12, bug #55240 (project octave):

I fully agree to not backout the cset.

Hunk #5 in main-window.cc is what came into my mind, too. That's why I was
asking whether you have restarted octave with the different styles. But I now
see, that hunk #5 is at a very early stage of start up and the selected style
from the settings is still not active there. 

Could you please add the removed code sequence for your next window build and
retry?
