Follow-up Comment #22, bug #55287 (project octave):
Yes, and there seams to be reports here and there about memory leaks in
libfontconifg. See e.g. https://github.com/PandorasFox/i3lock-color/issues/88
which reports pretty much the same leak, and it is supposed to have been fixed
in a version after 2.13 (I am using 2.12.6).
No more mysterious leak.
