Follow-up Comment #7, bug #55363 (project octave):

Is this then an issue best left to the programmer?  If they want they can add
"-Bsymbolic-functions" to their link flags or they can subtract it.  It
doesn't seem like an issue that Octave should be involved in (code in
moctfile.cc to try and find and strip options we don't approve of).
