Follow-up Comment #8, bug #54180 (project octave):

Here's a changeset.  (Yes, it does look like the lines you mentioned.)  This
seems to pass the test.

Good idea about the leaked file descriptors.  Seems like a good thing to have.
 Could you make that just one change within the test() function?  That seems
the logical place to have the test.
