Follow-up Comment #18, bug #47676 (project octave):
IMHO, we should change the parser to allow this case to work.
Either parse all assignment operators equivalently, i.e. any assignment or
compound assignment operator tags its left operand as a variable. Or at the
very least, parse compound assingment operators like other binary operators,
if they have space before and after the operator, then it's not a command.
