Follow-up Comment #3, bug #53841 (project octave):
Thanks - I checked the locations you specified and the files are present in
/usr/local/share/octave/4.4.0/doc/ but there is no sign of the oct-qhelp file
in /tmp.
No idea why as I have write permission there. For a giggle I executed sudo
octave --force-gui and received the same error/warning messages.
