Follow-up Comment #17, bug #53408 (project octave): I am talking about the host build, not the mxe cross-build. You don't have control over the host build configure options since you are using 'make hg-octave-dist'. By default Octave tries Qt 5 and then Qt 4. Your build tried to find Qt 5, failed, and fell back to Qt 4.
