Follow-up Comment #1, bug #53369 (project octave):
On Win 7 the same issues.
A screenshot of the cmd.exe window from which I tried to start Octave in GUI
mode is attached. Octave just crashes when invoked as:
octave --force-gui
But ISTR on Windows octave.exe cannot be started properly like this?
