Follow-up Comment #10, bug #53140 (project octave):
Strange.
1) this part of code is the same in stable and default branches, and thus
comment #2 remains unexplained.
2) in the same file there are other matrix resizing parts, with a slightly
different computation of sz. This maybe partially explains comment #4.
