Follow-up Comment #1, bug #52196 (project octave):
I can also reproduce this behaviour with Octave 4.2.1 when manually resizing
the figure from the following commands:
peaks ();
set (gca, "cameraviewangle", get (gca, "cameraviewangle")/2);
So this is no recent regression.
Also there is this intermittent zooming out effect when using the manual
rotate function in the figure. This is more profound when rotating at high and
low elevations. When rotating with the camera at z approximately 0 the effect
doesn't show.
There might be something wrong in update_camera in graphics.cc.
