Follow-up Comment #6:
I think this is now a duplicate of bug #47571. Adding a dependency to that
report.
We also could re-purpose this bug report for the issue you mentioned in
comment #2: "writing and running a function that returns a UTF-8 string with
multicolumn (East Asian Width, etc.) characters would ruin the terminal
window's alignment".
However, I cannot re-produce that. Could you please attach a screenshot? (Or
point to the bug report in case you already opened one dedicated to that
issue.)
