Follow-up Comment #3, bug #49763 (project octave):
I had the very same issue lately after JWE adapted the F77_INT types.
I waited a few days, pulled / updated, wiped the build tree, ran bootstrap /
configure anew, and the the error had gone away.
(In hindsight I suspect that running ./bootstrap fixed it for me as AFAICS
grep'ing for allocator.c indicated it comes from gnulib)
