Follow-up Comment #2, bug #49700 (project octave):
Complete mystery to me but I reran a freshly compiled Octave and this time
__have_gnuplot__ returned something, as desired:
>> __have_gnuplot__ ()
ans = 1
>> H = __have_gnuplot__ ()
H = 1
Beforehand, I was observing this:
> __have_gnuplot__ ()
> H = __have_gnuplot__ ()
error: value on right hand side of assignment is undefined
No idea what the problem was but you can close this report for now. Sorry for
the noise.
