Follow-up Comment #17, bug #47617 (project octave):

Another thing I have noticed is that (and I have only checked in windows, but
assume is same in Linux) the oct files get built regardless of whether
configure detected they should or not.

So in windows exists("parallel") returns 3, as does i2c, gpib and usbtcp
