Follow-up Comment #1, bug #49612 (project octave):

When using the official Win32 installer (Octave 4.2.0 release) under Windows
XP your little test script gives me nice checkboxes of a useful size.

What Windows version are you using?

What do you get as a result of

dpi = get(0, 'screenpixelsperinch')
pixels = get(0, 'screensize')(3:4)

and what is the physical size (in millimeters) of you monitor? Do those values
match to each other? (This might be related to bug #45600.)
