Hi,
I just pushed this changeset:

which sets error ids with codes mapped from matlab
with the procedure explained in comment #3
I'd appreciate feedback on this one.
Should I also document the new error ids in error_ids.m ?
Adding Carnë in CC as he was the original author of validateattributes and
Rik as he is managing the 4.2.0 release.
