Follow-up Comment #24, bug #46063 (project octave):
I think this has gotten much better with recent massive changes to the build
system. There are still a lot of files that need to be rebuilt to see if the
contents have changed, but there is not much of a way around that with make. I
think the problems that this report originally mentioned have all been solved.
I frequently rebuild in the same directory while pulling in new changes and I
haven't noticed any need to run make more than once (other than once this
morning that jwe addressed with
