Follow-up Comment #4, bug #47040 (project octave):

Same problem for me : as soon as you plot some figure (with the Qt backend),
the command window of the GUI freezes, in the sense that
nothing gets displayed in it anymore. You can still type commands (blindly so
to speak).

In practice this forces me to work with the CLI Octave from a terminal in Kate
for example.

This is on OpenSuse 12.3, x86_64, Octave 4.0.1.
