Follow-up Comment #5, bug #45003 (project octave):

Thanks for the patch, Stefan.

The first part moving the cursor works well provided the command doesn't span
multiple lines.

The second part replaced the wrong characters.  The attached patch seems to
get it right (it uses Backspace instead of Delete, and moves the cursor to the
end of the selection first).

It still fails if the command spans multiple lines, and if the key that
triggered the event was also backspace then it should only delete the selected
text, but it also deletes the one before.

Do you still have some time to work on this patch?  (I can't guarantee anyone
apply it even if we finish it, but let's try.)
