@Rik:
1) No this is not a problem with your version of gl2ps, I also see hidden
texts with the current dev version of gl2ps. I will dig into it.
2) I have to dig into this to.
3) gl2ps doesn't handle any characters out of the standard ascii 127
characters. The UTF-8 characters we use to represent Tex symbols simply can't
be included using gl2ps except with svg terminal. That's why I chose this
dirty solution, replacing Tex characters with their counterpart in the symbol
font for eps/pdf output.
I think the warnings you are talking about are those Octave sends when a
specific character is absent from the font fontconfig chose, and can't be
rendered on-screen.
In this situation the printout currently ends up with overlapping symbols ...
to be cleaned.
