ahh, so 'pager' the right name to use for this. I'll peek at the docs now
that I found it
(https://www.gnu.org/software/octave/doc/interpreter/Paging-Screen-Output.html)
and see if anything there affects behavior.
the root issue not usually an issue on Windows. standard installation in
C:/octave/octave-4.0.0
