Follow-up Comment #17, bug #44330 (project octave):

At least having a way to query from Qt thread whether the interpreter is idle
would help. Is it possible to have the interpreter set a boolean variable
(e.g. in the octave_qt_link) each time it starts/completes an operation?

We could also use semaphores for critical operations that need to be executed
sequentially.
