Follow-up Comment #5, bug #43340 (project octave):

I have the same problem with plotting in the 3.8.0 installer CLI, fwiw.

I experimented a bit with different terminal settings for gunplot, as Ben
suggested. Here the session output:

The generated gnuplot command doesn't seem to pickup the terminal setting from
GNUTERM variable and rather sticks with "aqua".

As per the homebrew installation, that's failing too, right now [1]. The
reason is a regression in LLVM [2] which is being tripped up by an unusual
construct in the octave source. (Templated std::pow(), if I got them right?
Not a C++ programmer here.)

I'm happy to help and give feedback where possible.

As per the GUI: That is plotting, actually, but it doesn't pull back commands
from the history via Arrow-Up. I think that one I gonna need to switch to the
GUI :)
