Follow-up Comment #1, bug #42340 (project octave):
Your example works correctly using fltk in the
current development system. I believe that
the fix for this will be in the next release,
if not in the current release. (You did not mention
what version of Octave you are using.)
Also, the Manual has recently been updated to more
fully describe use of TeX, including how to
make use of the standard TeX system for annotating
plots.
In any case, this report can be closed.
