Follow-up Comment #5:
I modified your patch slightly and checked it in on the development branch of
Octave (future 4.2 release). You couldn't have known about it unless you
spend a lot of time with Octave, but string concatenation is faster if you let
the parser do it rather than calling out to a library function like sprintf.
So I changed that in two instances. I also added your name to the list of
contributors to Octave, which shows up in the preface of the Manual. Thanks.
