Details:

In some window mangers under Linux, in particular in "awesome wm", the GUI
runs but is not displayed on the screen. The GUI is unmapped shortly after
creation. A bug has already been submitted to the awesome wm developers, who
claim that Octave is not adhering to the ICCCM § 4.1.4
