Follow-up Comment #13, bug #41305 (project octave):
I reinstalled Octave. Now the very odd behaviour is gone. I'm very sorry.
All what remains is that there are calls to eigs which fail if one requests to
few eigenvalues, as reported by me and in comment 1.
