Follow-up Comment #4, bug #41236 (project octave):

Oh, and note the additional "sed 'address@hidden@-Wl,-F@'" in there. It turns 
out most
libtool installations won't pass that "-F" flag to the linker unless you
escape it like this. I'm actually proposing a patch to the libtool folks about
this but I'm now testing to see if tis escaping will solve the problem for us
without modifying libtool.
