Follow-up Comment #30, bug #40436 (project octave): It is perhaps this gcc bug: http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=58800 That bug indicates a segfault, which we don't see here, but in our case the random values we are seeing could be from a pointer indexing out-of-range which is what this bug seems to have been addressing.
