This works for me with version 3.6.4 on Kubuntu 12.04 Linux.
Did you build your own version of Octave or is this from a distribution's
repository? Also, try running without qtoctave on the command line to make
sure that this is truly a problem with Octave rather than with the graphical
interface to it.
