Follow-up Comment #1, bug #38948 (project octave): Attached is a patch that fixes this issue. It should be noted that I did not try to understand the code in ppval (sorcerer's apprentice method). I just ensured that the shape of intermediate matrix (before final reshaping) was consistent between "nearest" and higher order methods.
