Follow-up Comment #1, bug #38809 (project octave):
Auto-scaling and grid enabling/disabling (with either A and G keys or using
buttons) only acts on the current axes which is the last created axes in your
example.
Using the attached patch, zoom ans wheel operations on an axes makes this axes
the "current" one. This is consistent with ML behavior.
