Follow-up Comment #2:

The java_init and java_exit functions are no longer exposed to the user. 
Someone would have to go out of their way to invoke this path and cause a
segfault.  For that reason, I am lowering the priority.

However, it would still be worth debugging why the segfault is happening in
case we are doing something incorrect in initializing the JVM.
