Follow-up Comment #3:

Bug #35856 has been fixed on the development branch but the code in this
report still crashes Octave.  Running under gdb and looking at the crash, this
seems to be related to default properties and order of initialization.  I'm
going to mark this postponed as Michael will be looking into that at the end
of the summer.
