Follow-up Comment #8, bug #35771 (project octave):
Are you sure oct2mat is *not* installed? It's a package that breaks a lot of
things and is frequently inadvertently installed.
Type "rehash" in the interpreter. Does that produce any effect? Any output?
Does it re-read the files?
