Follow-up Comment #10, bug #35559 (project octave):

saveas() worked like print() did.

I have a faint recollection that I had modified the print() function to behave
as Matlab does a few years back. If so this choice was revisited more
recently.

We're likely to get complaints either way, but I'm inclined to favor Matlab
compatibility ... just because I know how to fix that ;-)
