Follow-up Comment #4, bug #32482 (project octave):

Finally, when I tried matlab I noticed that the
positioning of the plot was much like Octave as
commented in the original report as "too far to the
right."

But, I agree  that both seem "cramped to the right."
No need for matlab compatibility here, I would say.

The other observed difference is that matlab's
default tic marks for (0,1) are 0  0.1  0.2  0.3 ... 1

Octave shows 0 (yaxis only) 0.2  0.4  0.6 ... 1

In this case, I think matlab is the better choice.
