Follow-up Comment #5, bug #31709 (project octave):

The thing is, most of us are in a similar situation to you: we want things to
improve but lack the resources :-(

Anyway, you're not going to see specific routines being made faster by a JIT.
Rather you are going to see loops being faster. So, if your code contains
loops where the body is relatively cheap to evaluate, chances are that a JIT
would help.
