Follow-up Comment #1:
The attached patch fixes the problem for me. Note that no change to the fltk
backend was needed, but swapping xlim and ylim in image.m was. I'm not sure
why the extra work is needed in the gnuplot backend. Is there a simpler way
we could be displaying images there?
I think that setting xlim and ylim in increasing order is the correct thing
to do for compatibility with Matlab, but can you check that to be sure?
